During a “Family Feud” sketch this season, featured “Saturday Night Live” player Brooks Wheelan joked about the infrequency with which he was used on the iconic variety show.
At least he occasionally appeared last season.
The comedian announced Monday that he was fired from the cast of NBC’s “SNL.” Given that Wheelan was one of several featured players who failed to make a notable impact during his debut season, the termination was far from an unexpected one.
“Had a blast and loved every second of it,” Tweeted Wheelan. “I’m totally honored to be able to make this next joke… FIRED FROM NEW YORK IT’S SATURDAY NIGHT!”
It is unclear if any other featured or repertory players will be cut ahead of next season.
