It was a good day to be an alternative/reality series at NBC.
The Peacock announced Sunday that alternative series “America’s Got Talent,” “American Ninja Warrior” and “Last Comic Standing” have each received an additional season.
For “Got Talent,” the renewal confirms a tenth season. “American Ninja Warrior,” which airs in partnership with Esquire Network, will receive a fourth season, while “Last Comic Standing'”s order is for a ninth.
NBC, which touted the “prolific work being accomplished in the network’s alternative division,” attributes its summer ratings dominance to the aforementioned three series. Save for two weeks when ABC featured coverage of the NBC finals, NBC has ranked number one among the major broadcast networks every week this summer in adults 18-49.
“The renewal of these three series is evidence that we continue to hit our stride in delivering quality entertainment to a broad viewership,” said Paul Telegdy, President, Alternative and Late Night Programming, NBC Entertainment. “All of the hard-working talented people on these shows — both behind and in front of the camera — should feel very proud of their achievements.”
