Kenny Chesney’s “American Kids” Explodes at Country Radio

If you thought Miranda Lambert, Carrie Underwood, Rascal Flatts and Sam Hunt made an impressive splash at radio last week, prepare to be amazed by this week’s update.

According to Mediabase, Kenny Chesney’s new single “American Kids” landed at a staggering 130 country radio stations to rank as the format’s most-added this week.

Released late last week, the song quickly surged to #31 on Mediabase’s rolling airplay chart. Thanks to the monstrous number of adds, its explosive ascent will continue.

Keith Urban’s newly-impacting “Somewhere in My Car” ranked second for the week with 40 pickups, while Sam Hunt’s breakthrough “Leave the Night On” impressed with another 30 adds. Miranda Lambert and Carrie Underwood scored 25 more adds for “Somethin’ Bad,” while Rascal Flatts’ “Payback” launched at another 24 stations.

Little Big Town’s “Day Drinking” (23 adds) and Hunter Hayes’ “Tattoo” (17) were also solid this week.

Thompson Square’s new “I Can’t Outrun You” followed with a modest 14 adds, while Chasin’ Crazy’s “That’s How We Do Summertime” and Jana Kramer’s “Love” each picked up six new stations.

Since Mediabase only includes data from monitored reporters in its rolling airplay chart, it is worth looking at how songs specifically fared with those stations:

2) Keith Urban – Somewhere in My Car – 35 monitored adds
