With no blockbuster new track from which to choose, Top 40 radio programmers largely spent the week adding previously released songs to their rotations.
According to Mediabase, Jennifer Lopez’ recently shipped “First Love” landed at 33 new stations to rank as the week’s most-added. Sam Smith’s rising juggernaut “Stay With Me” followed with 32 pickups, while OneRepublic’s “Love Runs Out” landed at another 28.
With 26 pickups, Pharrell’s “Come Get it Bae” ranked as the week’s fourth-most-added. Demi Lovato’s “Really Don’t Care (featuring Cher Lloyd)” followed with 23.
Jason DeRulo’s “Wiggle (featuring Snoop Dogg)” and MAGIC!’s “Rude” tied as the week’s sixth-most-added with 20 station pickups. Michael Jackson’s “Love Never Felt So Good (with Justin Timberlake)” ranked eighth with 19 adds, while Disclosure’s “Latch (featuring Sam Smith)” landed at a healthy 17 new stations for ninth place.
Tied for ninth position was Tiesto’s “Wasted (featuring Matthew Koma).” The song’s seventeen weekly adds come in advance of its official 6/17 impact date.
While Enrique Iglesias’ newly-impacting “Bailando (featuring Gente De Zona),” earned only fourteen total adds this week, it managed to land at New York’s influential Z100 and Los Angeles’ powerful KIIS. Bleachers’ alt crossover effort “I Wanna Get Better” landed with just eight.
Since Mediabase’s rolling airplay chart only includes data from monitored stations, it is worth also noting how songs fared this week at those stations.
