Calvin Harris’ “Summer” Goes Top 10 at Radio, Timberlake Holds at #1

The American populous generally recognizes Memorial Day Weekend as the beginning of summer. Fittingly, this weekend also features the ascent of Calvin Harris’ “Summer” into the Top 10 at pop radio.

Harris’ new track lands at #10 on Mediabase’s Rolling Top 40 airplay chart, which measures spins for the seven day period ending May 23.

The ascent was facilitated by a decline for Naughty Boy’s “La La La.” The song, which features the red-hot Sam Smith on vocals, slips from #10 to #12 on the latest chart.

Other Top 40 radio news:

— Justin Timberlake’s “Not a Bad Thing” spends a second day at #1. Songs presently working towards that throne include Paramore’s “Ain’t it Fun” (#3) and Iggy Azalea’s “Fancy (featuring Charli XCX)” (#4).

— Ariana Grande’s “Problem (featuring Iggy Azalea)” rises to #14, while Nico and Vinz’ “Am I Wrong” reaches a new peak of #16.

— MAGIC!’s “Rude” lifts to #22, while Sam Smith’s exploding “Stay with Me” hits a new high of #24.

— Afrojack’s “Ten Feet Tall (featuring Wrabel)” and OneRepublic’s “Love Runs Out,” which are both starting to build momentum, rise to #30 and #32, respectively.

— Trey Songz’ “Na Na” enters the Top 40 at #39. Jennifer Lopez’ “First Love” enters at #40.

— Songs working towards the Top 40 include Becky G’s “Shower” (#45) and Pharrell’s “Come Get it Bae” (#50).
