Updated Ratings: “The Voice” Recap Show Beats “American Idol” Finale

Update: While the final “American Idol” performance show narrowly won the battle in the overnight metered market ratings, the opposing “The Voice” recap show actually won in the fast nationals.

Airing from 8-9PM, the one-hour “Voice” recap (and precursor to the live finale) drew a 1.9 adults 18-49 rating with 7.41 million viewers. The hourlong “Idol” performance show drew just a 1.7 with 6.61 million viewers.

ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars” recap posted a 1.6 rating with 11.43 million viewers in the same timeslot.

“The Voice” then drew a 3.3 adults 18-49 rating with 11.57 million viewers for its 9-11PM live finale. The “Dancing with the Stars” finale drew a 2.4 adults 18-49 rating with 14.86 million viewers in that same block.

In airing from 8-9PM Tuesday, the final performance show of the thirteenth “American Idol” season did not have to deal with the live portion of NBC’s “The Voice” finale.

Unfortunately, it still struggled to beat NBC’s programming in the 8PM timeslot.

A “Voice” recap show, that programming, scored a 4.5 overnight household rating in the 8PM hour. “Idol,” which aired from 8-9PM on FOX, drew just a 4.7 overnight rating.

While the race might look different in the adults 18-49 demographic, ABC’s old-skewing “Dancing with the Stars” recap show actually beat both the NBC and FOX programs in the overnight metered market ratings. That 8PM “Road to the Finals” special drew a 7.8 overnight mark.

The actual “Voice” finale drew a 7.0 overnight rating from 9-11PM. “Dancing” posted a 10.3.
