Update 2: NBC’s “Revolution” Indeed Was Cancelled

Update 2: Despite the statement cited by THR, it appears “Revolution” definitely has been cancelled by NBC.

Update: Reports that NBC is planning to cancel “Revolution” might not ultimately be proven wrong, but they apparently were premature.

According to THR, NBC sources are denying that a decision was reached on the fate of “Revolution.”

Earlier Friday, multiple sources said the sophomore drama would not be returning for a third season.

While NBC has yet to officially substantiate the talk, multiple sources are reporting that “Revolution” will not receive a third season.

An unremarkable ratings performer in its Wednesday at 8PM timeslot, “Revolution” nonetheless held reasonably steady throughout the season. Given that stability–and the feeling that the show made dramatic creative improvements in the second season–fans had optimism the show might squeak by with a renewal.

Ultimately, however, NBC deemed the ratings too weak to justify a third season.

Earlier Friday, NBC renewed “About a Boy” and “Hannibal” for their second and third respective seasons. Attention now turns to what it will do with “Community,” “Parenthood,” “Growing Up Fisher,” “Believe” and “Crisis.”
