FX’s “Louie” Ratings Best Season 3 Average, Fall from S3 Premiere

A smash hit with critics, the season four premiere of FX’s “Louie” managed to deliver satisfying ratings Monday.

According to FX, Monday’s two new “Louie” episodes attracted an average audience of 925,500 viewers with 643,000 falling in the coveted adults 18-49 demographic. Both represented improvements from season three’s averages of 791,000 total viewers and 505,000 in adults 18-49.

Consistent throughout the hour, “Louie” garnered a total of 941,000 viewers (with 635,000 adults 18-49 watchers) for its first episode and 910,000 (with 651,000 in adults 18-49) for the second.

Because the season three “Louie” premiere aired on the same night as the network’s hotly-anticipated launch of “Anger Management,” FX feels a comparison between the two premieres “makes little sense.”

It nonetheless does acknowledge that “Louie” premiered its third season to an average audience of 1.43 million (out of 2.53 million for “Wilfred” and 5.6 million for “Anger Management”).
