“The Voice” Eliminations Leave Usher, Shakira With One Contestant

Well this sure looks familiar.

Mirroring the scenario from season four, the first two pairs of “The Voice” eliminations exclusively affected Teams Shakira and Usher. None of the four finalists cut from the live portion of the competition have represented Blake Shelton or Adam Levine.

That means that Teams Shakira and Usher are each down to one representative. Teams Blake and Adam both have three contestants in the final eight.

Departing this week were Team Usher member Bria Kelly and Team Shakira member Tess Boyer. Both eliminations were expected given that “I’m With You” and “Ain’t it Fun,” their respective performances, failed to chart notably on iTunes.

Team Adam’s Kat Perkins, whose “Landslide” did chart well, joined the two contestants in the bottom three. With runaway support, she was kept in the competition by virtue of the “instant save” component.

Team Blake’s Sisaundra, Jake Worthington and Audra McLaughlin, Team Adam’s Perkins, Delvin Choice and Christina Grimmie, Team Shakira’s Kristen Merlin and Team Usher’s Josh Kaufman return to the stage next Monday.
