While its lack of airplay assures it will not debut as highly on the overall Billboard Hot 100, Lana Del Rey’s new single “West Coast” is selling nearly as well as Ed Sheeran’s “Sing” did in its debut last week.
According to Billboard, the buzzworthy single, which remains in the Top 10 of iTunes Single Sales chart, is tracking to score 110-120,000 paid downloads by the end of the weekly tracking period.
Enough to catapult the song into the top 50 of the Billboard Hot 100, it will instantly become Del Rey’s third biggest single behind “Summertime Sadness” (which peaked at #6) and “Young and Beautiful” (which reached #22).
Driven by its instant–and immense–Top 40 radio support to a #15 debut on the Billboard Hot 100, Ed Sheeran’s “Sing” only achieved a slightly better sales total than is expected of the Del Rey single. It moved 123,000 units in its opening frame.
“West Coast” is the lead single from Lana Del Rey’s upcoming studio release “Ultraviolence.”
