FX Officially Renews “The Americans” For Season 3

Making good on the promise offered by its executive John Landgraf, FX issued a statement officially confirming a season three renewal for “The Americans.”

The news comes in the wake of consecutive weeks of series low viewership for FX’s critically acclaimed drama. The network, nonetheless, says the show performs powerfully on DVR.

According to FX, the second season’s average episodic audience of 1.40 million increases to 3.08 million when seven days of DVR usage are included.

“The Americans continues be one of the best shows on television,” said FX’s Eric Schrier. “Executive Producers Joe Weisberg, Joel Fields and Graham Yost have done a wonderful job delivering two seasons, and the performances from Keri Russell, Matthew Rhys and Noah Emmerich are stellar. Fans will be blown away by the rest of this season, and we can’t wait to see what they come up with next year.”

Like its predecessors, the third season will consist of thirteen episodes.
