“The Voice” can finally say goodbye to its iTunes slump.
After weeks of failing to establish a prominent presence in the iTunes Overall Single Sales chart, NBC’s reality competition has finally launched a song into the Top 100.
Fittingly, that song was a cover of Jason Mraz’ “I Won’t Give Up.”
Performed by Team Adam contestant Christina Grimmie, who had cultivated immense social media fanbases prior to debuting on the sixth season of “The Voice,” the song cracked into the Top 100 within hours of Monday’s broadcast.
Currently #71, the track will surely outsell Grimmie’s previous best “Wrecking Ball” and challenge Dawn & Hawkes’ “I’ve Just Seen a Face” to become the sixth season’s hottest-selling single to date.
Ranked #178 at press time, fellow Team Adam member Kat Perkins’ “Open Arms” was the only other performance in the Top 200.
Grimmie, Perkins and Delvin Choice will represent Team Adam in the live rounds. Kristen Merlin, Dani Moz and Tess Boyer were confirmed as Team Shakira’s representatives.
