5 Seconds of Summer’s Album Sales Forecast Lowered, “Frozen” To Win?

Another day, another reduction in the opening week forecast for 5 Seconds of Summer’s “She Looks So Perfect” EP.

According to Hits Daily Double, updated data suggests the four-track EP will open with a debut total of 135-145,000 weekly units. Significantly below the initial forecast of 200,000-plus, the new sales estimate no longer guarantees 5SOS a number one debut.

In fact, as of press time, Hits’ forecasts position the enduring “Frozen” soundtrack to claim another weekly victory. That album is pacing for a weekly total of 140-150,000.

While a six-figure debut for the 5SOS EP is unquestionably impressive, the reduced forecast confirms it is not moving nearly as well in its release week as the immense pre-order interest suggested.

The initial estimates are holding for many of the week’s other new releases, including those from Christina Perri (40-45,000), Chevelle (40-45,000) and Dan + Shay (28-32,000).
