Sam Smith’s “Stay With Me” Climbs Sales Chart after “SNL”

Best known as the featured vocalist on Naughty Boy’s smash “La La La” and on Disclosure’s enduring “Latch,” Sam Smith seized his “Saturday Night Live” appearance to establish himself as a leading act.

His effort was successful.

Following his performance on Saturday’s edition of the NBC variety show, Smith’s new single “Stay With Me” has surged up the iTunes Single Sales Chart. Thirty eight in the hours prior to the “SNL” appearance, the song has since lifted to number seven on the chart.

In the process, it eclipsed the aformentioned “La La La,” which is currently #13.

“Lay Me Down,” his other number from Saturday’s show, has enjoyed a modest–but not worthless–gain to number #93.

Thanks to the buzz from his performances, Smith’s previous single “Money on My Mind” is also gaining notice. “Money,” which Taylor Swift previously called a new favorite, has ascended to #87 on iTunes.
