Rixton, Katy Tiz, 5 Seconds of Summer Emerge as Radio’s Most-Added

As radio programmers continue to fall in love with Rixton’s “Me & My Broken Heart,” two newcomers are beginning to make their own impacts at Top 40 radio.

According to Mediabase, Katy Tiz’ cover of “The Big Bang” and 5 Seconds of Summer’s “She Looks So Perfect” rank as the week’s second- and third-most-added tracks at top 40.

With 36 and 33 adds, their latest impacts trail only that of the aforementioned Rixton song, which picked up 37 stations this week.

Written, produced and performed by Rock Mafia, the original version of “The Big Bang” made only a minor dent in the charts. It did, however, gain buzz for its video, which featured the first signs of Miley Cyrus’ maturing image.

“She Looks So Perfect” is the title track from 5SOS’ EP. Set to formally street in the US next week, the EP, thanks to strong pre-orders, is expected to claim more than 200,000 opening week sales.

— Calvin Harris’ “Summer” and Paramore’s “Ain’t it Fun” also had successful weeks at radio. Ranking as the Top 40 format’s fourth- and fifth-most-added, they picked up 28 and 21 new stations, respectively.
