Update: The overnight ratings were not misleading; The CW’s “The 100” got off to a very strong start.
Wednesday’s series premiere attracted a 0.9 adults 18-49 rating with 2.73 million viewers. The viewership count ranks as the largest for a CW series premiere since “LuX” launched in 2010.
Only “The Originals,” which received a special premiere out of its “Vampire Diaries” mothership, posted a stronger rating in adults 18-49 (a 1.0). At the time considered a successful launch, “The Tomorrow People” opened to the same 0.9 in the same Wednesday at 9PM timeslot.
“Arrow,” which led into “The 100,” posted a 0.8 with 2.42 million.

It appears The CW saved its biggest freshman launch for last.
New drama “The 100” premiered Wednesday to a solid 1.9 overnight household rating.
The strongest overnight rating for a CW series premiere this season, the 1.9 actually represented a gain from the 1.8 posted by lead-in “Arrow.”
Questions regarding how the show performed in adults 18-49 and whether it can sustain its solid opening week performance remain to be seen. But, for now, “The 100” appears to be a superior option to fellow midseason launch “Star-Crossed.”
