“The Voice'”s Emily B Sparks iTunes Sales for “Wicked Game”

This week’s episodes of “The Voice” served as better platforms for reintroducing songs to music fans than introducing new superstars.

After Clarissa Serna performed the song on Monday’s episode, The Cranberries’ “Zombie” stormed into the Top 50 of iTunes’ Single Sales chart (currently #34). Serna’s cover version barely cracked into the Top 100 (it is currently #86).

Though less successful, Emily B, a contestant on Tuesday’s show, produced a similar result.

Despite changing the arrangement (and receiving strong marks), her rendition of Chris Isaak’s “Wicked Game” had yet to enter the Top 100 on iTunes.

The original version, however, had climbed to number 88 at press time.

After four Blind Audition episodes, only the recording of Dawn and Hawkes” “I’ve Just Seen a Face” has made a significant impact on iTunes.
