The CW’s “Reign” Slips to Overnight Ratings Low

Update: Thursday’s “Reign” slipped to a series low 0.5 adults 18-49 rating. Its viewership average of 1.3 million also represents a series low.

Lead-in “The Vampire Diaries” kicked off The CW’s night with a 0.9 and 1.9 million viewers.

Officially renewed for season two, The CW’s “Reign” no longer needs to stress over its weekly rating report.

But for those fans, cast, crew members and network executives who remain interested in tracking the show’s performance, the week’s news was not good.

Thursday’s episode, the first in three weeks, posted a series low 1.2 overnight metered market rating.

While that is only a hair off the 1.3 the show delivered in its previous telecast, it does indicate that interest in the series is not growing. It also puts to bed the notion that the return of Toby Regbo’s Francis was going to drive a significant ratings uptick.

To the credit of “Reign,” its “Vampire Diaries” lead-in delivered a mere 1.5 overnight rating this week. The previous episode posted a 1.7.

The adults 18-49 rating and viewership count, which might not have suffered the same drop, will be released by 11:30AM.
