Unless it receives a freak boost in conjunction with Sunday’s Academy Awards broadcast, the “Frozen” soundtrack will not remain at number one on the Billboard 200 album sales chart.
That top position will instead fall to Schoolboy Q, whose “Oxymoron” is pacing for an impressive first week tally.
According to Hits Daily Double, the album is tracking to move 150-160,000 units this week.
A success by most standards, the expected tally is particularly impressive when compared to that of its predecessor. “Habits & Contradictions,” the artist’s 2012 digital release, moved just 3,900 copies in its first week.
Kid Cudi’s “Satellite Flight,” this week’s next strongest debut, will likely settle in the 90-95,000 range.
Other notable debuts include Romeo Santos’ “Formula, Volume 2” (forecasted for 90-95,000), Beck’s “Morning Phase” (65-70,000), Dierks Bentley’s “Riser” (50-60,000), The Fray’s “Helios” (30-35,000) and St. Vincent’s “St. Vincent” (20-25,000).
