Update: According to Nielsen’s fast national data, Monday’s edition of “The Voice” posted a strong 4.7 adults 18-49 rating. Last spring’s fourth season premiere, which was adjusted to a 4.8 in the final broadcast ratings, posted the same 4.7 in the fast nationals.
With an average of 15.734 million viewers, this year’s launch, however, drew roughly two million more total viewers. It ranks as the most-watched “Voice” opener since season two launched out of the Super Bowl in 2012.
This fall’s fifth season premiere drew a 4.9 adults 18-49 rating with 14.7 million viewers in the fast nationals.
Monday’s sixth season premiere, which reunited permanent judges Adam Levine and Blake Shelton with rotational judges Shakira and Usher, demonstrated steady growth throughout its two hours of broadcast time. Its half-hour adults 18-49 numbers were as follows: 3.9, 4.6, 5.0, 5.2.
10PM lead-out “The Blacklist” posted a 3.1 with 11.28 million viewers.

FOX’s “American Idol” could not be more cold.
NBC’s “The Voice,” on the other hand, remains red hot.
According to TV Media Insights, Monday’s two-hour season premiere drew an impressive 9.2 overnight metered market rating. Up from the 8.7 for last spring’s season premiere, the number was in line with the mark posted by the season five premiere this fall.
While “American Idol” technically opened its season to a stronger number (a 9.4 in the overnights), its number, unlike the steady “Voice” rating, was down 20% from that of the prior year’s premiere (and thus indicative of the series’ fading luster).
Like last spring, the current season of “The Voice” features coaches Adam Levine, Shakira, Usher and Blake Shelton.
Freshman drama “The Blacklist,” which aired out of “The Voice,” posted a solid 6.7 overnight number. The James Spader vehicle has already been renewed for a second season.
