While three noteworthy acts released albums this week, none possesses the commercial appeal of the “NOW That’s What I Call Music” franchise.
Based on early data, Hits Daily Double projects that the NOW 49 compilation will move 90-95,000 units to reign as the week’s best newcomer. If that projection comes to fruition, the release will compete with the “Frozen” soundtrack, America’s current number one album, for the top spot on next week’s sales chart.
Pacing to be the week’s next best newcomer is Toni Braxton & Babyface’s “Love, Marriage & Divorce.” The heavily hyped LP is on track to move 55-60,000, which should give it a convincing edge over releases from Broken Bells and Little Mix.
At press time, Broken Bells’ “After the Disco” looks safe for 40-45,000 debut week copies. The US release of Little Mix’s “Salute” will cause between 35,000 and 40,000 buyers to part with their cash.
