“Ride Along” Edges “That Awkward Moment” at Friday Box Office

“That Awkward Moment” when a film in its third week of release beats a newcomer at the Friday box office.

That is what happened yesterday–“Ride Along” made a play to extend its box office reign to three weeks with a narrow victory over new release “That Awkward Moment.”

Though the holdover’s Friday margin was narrow–$4.0 million to $3.9 million–it is expected to distance itself as the weekend continues.

“Lone Survivor” claimed third place on Friday with $2.3 million, but most expect “Frozen” to move past it by the close of business on Sunday. “Frozen” placed fourth on Friday with $2.2 million.

New release “Labor Day” stumbled out of the gate with $1.9 million. It was fifth place at the Friday box office.
