“Ride Along” Wins Weekend Box Office, “I, Frankenstein” Misses Top 5

A fairly uneventful weekend box office battle fell in favor of holdover champ “Ride Along.”

The Kevin Hart vehicle added $21.2 million to its haul, which gave it considerable difference from runner-up “Lone Survivor.” That film, which should cross the $100 million mark this coming week, earned $12.6 million.

“The Nut Job” followed with $12.3 million, while megahit “Frozen” took fourth on the strength of $9.0 million. That film now claims a cumulative gross of $347.8 million.

“Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit,” meanwhile, managed to edge underwhelming newcomer “I, Frankenstein” for fifth place. The holdover earned $8.8 million, while the newcomer was only good for $8.3 million.
