Controversy over “Duck Dynasty” star Phil Robertson’s anti-gay remarks has faded, but a new storm is brewing at ABC.
Friday, current “The Bachelor” Juan Pablo Galavis spoke vehemently against the prospect of featuring a homosexual in the titular role. And like A&E, the producer and network behind the veteran reality series are not supporting the remarks.
“No,” said Galavis of the possibility. “I respect [homosexuals], but, honestly, I don’t think it’s a good example for kids to watch that on TV. It’s hard, it’s hard, it’s a very thin line.”
He added, “They’re more pervert in a sense. To me, the show would be too strong, too hard to watch on TV.”
Responding to the remarks, which made waves for their homophobic implications, ABC, Warner Horizon and the show’s producers jointly commented, “Juan Pablo’s comments were careless, thoughtless and insensitive, and in no way reflect the views of the network, the show’s producers or studio.”
