“Homeland” is no longer the critical darling it was in season one, but it remains a big deal with its target audience.
With an initial viewership average of 2.4 million for its 9PM premiere, Sunday’s season three finale ranked as the series’ most watched episode to date. An additional 500,000 tuned into the encore presentation at 11PM, giving the show a series high nightly total of 2.9 million.
Ahead of the finale, “Homeland” was attracting a weekly audience of 7 million across all platforms. It was the first Showtime original series to ever accomplish that feat.
“Masters of Sex,” which wrapped its first season Sunday, drew 1.2 million viewers for its initial 10PM airing. Its nightly total registered at 1.5 million.
Both “Homeland” and “Sex” have already been renewed for next season.
