FOX’s “Glee” Tanks in the Overnight Ratings

Update: As forecast by the overnights, FOX’s “Glee” dipped to a non-holiday series low Thursday.

“Previously Unaired Christmas,” Thursday’s episode, drew a paltry 1.1 adults 18-49 rating with 3.29 million viewers. Though up from last week’s abysmally rated Thanksgiving night episode, the numbers were down considerably from the last non-holiday broadcast on 11/21.

Lead-in “The X Factor” drew a 1.4 with 4.93 million.

Though its adults 18-49 and total viewership numbers might top the series low marks of last week’s “Puppet Master” episode, they will not be pretty.

According to TV Media Insights, Thursday’s episode, which aired against NBC’s massively rated “The Sound of Music Live” special (10.9 overnight number for the evening with an 11.2 in the 9PM hour) in addition to its usual docket of competition, drew just a 2.4 overnight metered market rating.

Down substantially from the last non-holiday number (2.9 on November 21), the overnight numbers, while not always reflective of how the show will do in Nielsen’s final data, foretell an ugly performance in that report.

“The X Factor,” which led into “Glee,” drew a 3.5 in the overnights.
