Music fans have not needed to yell “Timber” regarding the new Pitbull song this Thanksgiving; the track, which features Ke$ha, officially completed its climb to the top of iTunes.
After flirting with the top of the charts after the duo’s performance at Sunday’s American Music Awards, “Timber” quickly slipped to the bottom of the top ten. It then reasserted itself over the past two days and officially claimed the chart for itself on Thanksgiving Thursday.
At press time, it was slightly outpacing Eminem’s “The Monster (featuring Rihanna), the chart’s second-best seller. OneRepublic’s “Counting Stars,” One Direction’s “Story of My Life,” A Great Big World & Christina Aguilera’s “Say Something” and Lorde’s “Royals,” all selling at a similar rate, are tightly locked into the third, fourth, fifth and sixth positions, respectively.
While “Timber”‘s ascent to number one is the biggest story on iTunes, it is not the only one worthy of focus. After a sudden blaze up the charts, Ellie Goulding’s “Burn,” far from a new song, has reached number twelve on the key single sales chart.
