Frontrunner Survives “The Voice” Elimination Scare, Team Cee Lo Done

After two weeks of reigning as one of the top sellers on iTunes, Matthew Schuler learned what life is like on the bottom.

Schuler, who bookmakers recently called the favorite to win “The Voice,” struggled with Imagine Dragons’ “It’s Time” on this week’s Top 8 performance show, and iTunes buyers agreed. His rendition was by far the week’s worst seller.

Fans were not, however, willing to hastily abandon the Team Christina member. While they did allow him to fall to the weekly bottom three, they used their Instant Save to keep Schuler in the competition.

The same cannot be said for Caroline Pennell and Ray Boudreaux. The respective Team Cee Lo and Team Blake contestants were eliminated during Tuesday’s results show, which means coach Cee Lo Green is officially out of the competition. Blake Shelton’s hopes of a four-peat, meanwhile, are in the hands of Cole Vosbury, his sole voice remaining in this year’s “The Voice.”

The top six–Team Adam’s Will Champlin, James Wolpert and Tessanne Chin, Team Christina’s Matthew Schuler and Jacquie Lee and Team Blake’s Cole Vosbury–return to the stage next week.
