“The Voice”‘s Will Champlin Secures iTunes Bonus, Cole Vosbury Chasing

Update: Early Tuesday morning, Will Champlin became the third season five “The Voice” contestant to earn an iTunes multiplier bonus.

By the voting deadline at 11AM ET, no fellow contestant had become the fourth.

Champlin’s “At Last” was the only performance to reach the top ten of iTunes’ overall single sales chart and thus the only one to earn a 5x multiplier bonus on its purchase count. Having reached thirteen and sixteen, respectively, Cole Vosbury’s “I Still Believe In You” and James Wolpert’s “Somebody to Love” came closest to mirroring Champlin’s feat.

The following were the iTunes positions moments before the close of voting at 11AM ET.

The Voice – Top 8 Performances – iTunes Chart
8) Will Champlin – At Last
13) Cole Vosbury – I Still Believe in You
16) James Wolpert – Somebody to Love
21) Jacquie Lee – Who’s Lovin’ You
24) Tessanne Chin – Underneath it All
26) Caroline Pennell – Dog Days are Over
56) Ray Boudreaux – Gimme Some Lovin’
85) Matthew Schuler – It’s Time

Three weeks ago, “The Voice” contestant Will Champlin needed Adam Levine’s “save” to remain in the competition. This week, he lays claim to the competition’s best-selling performance.

As of early Tuesday morning, Champlin’s rendition of “At Last” has reached the Top Ten on iTunes’ overall single sales chart. That ascent secures Champlin the coveted “iTunes” bonus, which applies a 5x multiplier on the total number of votes (sales) he receives through the channel.

Following James Wolpert’s “A Case of You” and Matthew Schuler’s “Hallelujah,” Champlin’s showstopping “At Last” becomes the season’s third song to secure such a bonus.

With Champlin’s bonus secured for “At Last,” attention now turns to the iTunes trajectories of the other Top 8 performances. Unfortunately for six of those recordings, only one appears capable of a climb into the iTunes Top 10.

Cole Vosbury’s “I Still Believe In You,” that performance, is presently situated at number nineteen. It has until 11AM ET to make up the remaining ground.

While potentially useful as barometers of the weekly fan vote, iTunes rankings for the remaining six contestants also illustrate the significant unlikelihood that anyone else will contend for an iTunes bonus:

30) James Wolpert – Somebody to Love
34) Jacquie Lee – Who’s Lovin’ You
43) Caroline Pennell – Dog Days are Over
48) Tessanne Chin – Underneath it All
79) Ray Boudreaux – Gimme Some Lovin’
110) Matthew Schuler – It’s Time
