Conceding that “Made in the USA” marked the end of her successful single streak, Demi Lovato is moving forward with promotion for another “DEMI” track.
“Neon Lights,” that song, is Lovato’s attempt to erase the disappointment of “USA” and replicate the mainstream achievement of hits like “Skyscraper,” “Give Your Heart a Break” and “Heart Attack.”
Echoing shades of Calvin Harris’ “Feel So Close,” “Lights” opens with a low-key verse before crescendoing into a full-blown dance track. Featuring aural styling common among contemporary EDM, the song relies on Lovato’s recognizable, powerhouse voice for distinction.
The third single from “DEMI,” “Neon Lights” was co-written by Lovato, Mario Marchetti, Tiffany Vartanyan, Ryan Tedder and Noel Zancanella. Tedder and Zancanella collaborated on production.
