Pilot News: “How I Met Your Dad” Moves Forward, “The Flash” Update

CBS has arranged a meeting with “How I Met Your Dad.”

Entertainment Weekly reported Monday that The Eye has ordered a pilot for the rumored “How I Met Your Mother” spin-off. Reportedly connected to the original “How I Met” by the inclusion of MacLaren’s Pub, “Dad” is not expected to feature any characters from the current series.

The pilot, which contrasts the original by having a woman tell her children the story of how she met their father, comes from Emily Spivey and “How I Met” creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas.

“How I Met Your Mother,” now in its ninth season, wraps its run this May.

*In other pilot news, Deadline reports that The CW has ordered a traditional pilot for its upcoming comic book series “The Flash.”

The network was previously planning to launch the series, a loose spin-off from “Arrow,” with a backdoor pilot next spring.

The character, played by Grant Gustin, still appears in at least two “Arrow” episodes this season, but because they and the character tested so well, the network decided to film a complete pilot to better flesh out his origin story.
