Update: The premiere of “Almost Human” delivered a 3.1 adults 18-49 rating with 9.10 million viewers.
Though the numbers are irrefutably solid, especially given the lofty competition from NBC’s football coverage, any label of success needs to be applied with extreme caution.
If FOX’s own football lead-in made a sizable, inorganic contribution to the “Almost Human” rating, the 3.1 is disappointing in context. It would also raise some doubt about how the show will perform Monday night when it has the burden of independently launching FOX’s evening.
Leading out of a 5.4 and 15.20 million viewers for FOX’s “The OT,” “Human” delivered a 3.4 with 10.02 million from 8-8:30PM and a 2.8 with 8.17 million from 8:30-9PM.
==================
Benefiting from a healthy football lead-in, FOX’s “Almost Human” got off to a solid start in the overnight ratings.
According to TV Media Insights, Sunday’s premiere delivered a 6.3 overnight metered market rating.
Up slightly from the 6.1 overnight rating delivered by the “Sleepy Hollow” premiere on September 16, the “Almost Human” overnight number should translate to a solid adults 18-49 number as well.
Relocated editions of “The Simpsons” (3.0) and “Family Guy” (2.9) followed at 9PM and 9:30PM, respectively. Though their overnight numbers look weak, their significantly young skew will assure respectable adults 18-49 performances.
“Almost Human” continues its premiere Monday at 8PM, a slot which will serve as its regular home moving forward.
