“Glee” Ratings Crash for Katy, Gaga Episode; “X Factor” Destroyed

Update: For the second time in three episodes, “Glee”‘s viewership sank to a series low.

According to Nielsen’s Fast National Data, Thursday’s “A Katy or a Gaga” edition of “Glee delivered a paltry 1.5 adults 18-49 rating with 4.00 million viewers.

Earlier in the night, FOX’s “The X Factor” posted a disappointing 1.2 rating with 3.64 million viewers. NBC’s “The Voice,” which aired opposite at “Factor” at 8PM, scored a 2.7 with 10.23 million.

The millions of “Glee” viewers who returned for the show’s touching October 10 tribute to Cory Monteith unfortunately did not renew their commitment to watching regularly.

Thursday’s “A Katy or a Gaga,” the first “Glee” episode since that tribute, sank to a season low 3.0 overnight metered market number according to data from TV Media Insights.

Down significantly from the 5.3 rating for the Monteith tribute, the rating also trailed the 3.1 posted by part two of the season premiere on 10/3.

That episode ended up posting a series low in total viewers, and despite featuring the titular Katy Perry and Lady Gaga tributes and the debut of “American Idol” finalist Adam Lambert, it appears this week’s episode might flirt with that record low.

Though “Glee” has irrefutably fallen out of favor with audiences, this week’s performance might have been slightly rosier had “The X Factor” not been crushed by competitor “The Voice.” Despite offering the intrigue of a Top 13 do-over, Thursday’s “Factor” slipped to a disastrous 2.9 overnight number against “The Voice”‘s 6.7.
