Arcade Fire’s “Reflektor” Leads Sales Race as Katy’s “Prism” Tumbles

Unimpressive given the hype–and given the fact that predecessor “The Suburbs” sold more–Arcade Fire’s “Reflektor” will still debut as the week’s best-selling album.

According to Billboard, sales forecasts for “Reflektor,” which will be reflected in next week’s Billboard 200 chart, remain in the 135,000 range. Thanks to a sharp second week fall for Katy Perry’s “Prism,” which is expected to follow last week’s 286,000 bow with only 90,000 this frame, the total, will secure “Reflektor” a comfortable place atop the BB 200.

The remainder of the top ten is less certain. With enthusiasm for Kelly Clarkon’s “Wrapped in Red” slowing and The Robertson Family’s “Duck the Halls” album picking up steam, the “Idol” winner is no longer a lock for third place.

Billboard’s most recent projections reduce the Clarkson target to 60,000; its forecast for the “Duck Dynasty” album, on the other hand, has been upgraded to 55-60,000.

With little numerical change since Wednesday, projections to continue to suggest Toby Keith’s “Drinks After Work” (~35,000), Thomas Rhett’s “It Goes Like This” (~35,000) and Linkin Park’s “RECHARGED” (30,000) will also debut in the top ten this week.

Aside from “Prism,” other holdovers likely for the top ten are Lorde’s “Pure Heroine,” Drake’s “Nothing Was the Same” and Miley Cyrus’ “Bangerz.”
