The fast-paced, back-and-forth battle with Ryan Bader was not without adversity, but when Wednesday’s UFC Fight Night main-event came to a close, Glover Teixeira was crowned victorious.
After backing Teixeira against the cage, Bader continued to go to work on his opponent. During that exchange, Teixeira slipped through a right-left combination that dropped Bader. And some aggressive ground-and-pound forced referee Herb Dean to call a stop to the contest at 2:55 of Round One.
UFC would later confirm that Teixeira’s win secures him a shot at the Light Heavyweight Championship, which will position him against the winner of the upcoming Jon Jones-Alexander Gustafsson fight.
In the night’s co-main-event, Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza made another impressive statement with a dominant knockout win over Yushin Okami.
