Gay Marriage Comments Land Wrestling Champion in Hot Water

Ring of Honor Champion Jay Briscoe came under fire this week for comments he made in reference to gay marriage legislation.

“The Delaware Senate passed a bill yesterday that allows same sex couples to get married. If that makes you happy, then congratulations…try and teach my kids that there’s nothing wrong with that and I’ll f**ing shoot you,” wrote Briscoe, according to correspondents who saw his Twitter prior to its deletion.

Prior to deleting the account, Briscoe allegedly apologized for his choice of words but still defended the idea that sentiment on the issue should come from within one’s own family.

Ring of Honor issued an official statement on the matter, distancing itself from Briscoe’s views on the widely-discussed subject.

“Ring of Honor Wrestling respects and appreciates every fan regardless of age, gender, race, religion or sexual preference. The recent post by Jay Briscoe does not represent the views or opinions of Ring of Honor Wrestling, its owners, management or employees,” said the company.
