Coming off a WrestleMania main-event in which he passed the torch to John Cena and suffered serious injuries, The Rock says he is “possibly” done wrestling.
The Rock confirmed the doubt about his in-ring future in an interview with Peter Rosenberg.
While discussing his uncertain in-ring future, Rock also addressed the absurd speculation–which Headline Planet had already repudiated–that WWE originally planned for The Rock to win at WrestleMania 29 in order to setup another match between him and Cena.
Building to the big John Cena win, on the biggest card in the biggest city, was always the plan.
He also confirmed reports that his next major opponent was to be longtime friend Brock Lesnar. The Rock and Lesnar were originally set to square off in a headline bout on next year’s WrestleMania, but with The Rock’s wrestling future up in the air, so too is this match. Rock, however, strongly indicated that if he does return to the ring, it would be against the former UFC Champion.
The Rock also dismissed rumors that he walked out on RAW, noting that he discussed his injury situation with the necessary players shortly after his WrestleMania match.
“Vince came by the lockerroom,” said Rock, “then we agreed that I wasn’t going to be at [RAW]. Everybody knew, so I wasn’t quite too sure where all the scrambling came in.”
