UFC Co-Main Event Cancelled Due to Injury

Various sources confirmed Monday that an injury has forced UFC to nix an upcoming co-main-event.

The bout, Rory MacDonald vs. Carlos Condit, was to support the Georges St. Pierre vs. Nick Diaz headliner on the upcoming UFC 158 PPV. But due to a a neck injury to the former, that bout will no longer take place on the show.

Taking place in his home nation of Canada, the UFC 158 could have been a major showcase for MacDonald, who with a win would follow up on a dominant performance against BJ Penn and solidify himself as an elite welterweight combatant. Condit, coming off a decision title loss to GSP, would have put himself right back into contention with a win.

The match also would have been a rematch of their “Fight of the Night” from UFC 115 in 2010. Condit won that one with a TKO late in the third round.
