Soft Ratings Start for “666 Park Avenue,” “Once Upon a Time” Strong

Update: The overnights were correct. “666 Park Avenue” opened to a mere 2.2 adults 18-49 rating with 7.0 million viewers. Earlier in the night, “Once Upon a Time” started with a strong 3.8 rating and 11.0 million viewers, while “Revenge” impressed in its new timeslot with a 3.2 and 9.5 million. Given that strong lead-in support, the soft “666” debut looks even worse.

Apparently, plenty of Americans will head to work today without feeling guilty. “666 Park Avenue,” hyped as television’s next guilty pleasure, delivered soft ratings in its premiere for ABC.

The devil-themed drama underwhelmed in the overnights, delivering just a 5.3 rating in the metered markets according to TVMediaInsights. That marks a strong decline from the 8.5 for last year’s 10PM premiere “Pan Am,” which ended up flaming out in its inaugural season.

Worse, the show lost viewers from start to finish, declining from a 5.7 in its first half hour to a 4.9 in the latter half.

Earlier in the night, “Once Upon a Time” debuted its second season to a 7.2. Though relatively strong, and sure to be solid in the demo, that number marks a decline from last year’s 8.4 premiere number.

“Revenge” delivered a 6.7 at 9PM.
