“Homeland” Silences “Mad Men,” Claims Outstanding Drama Emmy

The “Mad Men” streak has finally come to an end.

Foreshadowed by its big wins in the Lead Actor and Lead Actress categories, Showtime’s freshman drama “Homeland” won the big one this year, beating out AMC’s beloved “Men” and “Breaking Bad” to win the Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series.

“Homeland,” which also topped “Downton Abbey,” “Game of Thrones” and “Boardwalk Empire” for the top Emmy prize, also won for Outstanding Writing in a Drama Series.

“Mad Men,” meanwhile, struck out in all the key categories. “Breaking Bad” only won for Aaron Paul’s performance as Outstanding Supporting Actor.
