“Homeland” Makes its First Mark on the Emmys with Writing Win

Showtime’s breakout drama “Homeland” is thought to be a serious contender at this year’s Emmy Awards, and the terrorist drama made its first mark on the show with a win in the writing category.

Alex Gansa, Howard Gordon & Gideon Raff picked up the award for penning the critically-acclaimed pilot, which was considered the strongest of last season.

To win, their work had to beat out writing efforts for “Mad Men” (3 episodes) and “Downton Abbey.”
