For as acclaimed as his performance is, Aaron Paul did not have an easy path to a second Emmy for his work on “Breaking Bad.”
He would not only have to beat out impressive names from “Downton Abbey” (Jim Carter & Brendan Coyle), “Game of Thrones” (Peter Dinklage) and “Mad Men” (Jared Harris) but also a co-star who electrified the “Breaking Bad” screen in Giancarlo Esposito.
Many felt Esposito’s work as Gus Fring helped take the already-stellar “Breaking Bad” to another level in season four, which certainly made him a daunting opponent for Paul.
Aaron Paul, however, pulled off the victory and delivered an emotional speech in support of his victory.
