MTV’s “Inbetweeners” Ratings Sink for Episode Two

After getting off to a very disappointing start for MTV last week, the US adaptation of “The Inbetweeners” dipped to abysmal levels for episode two.

According to TravisYanan, the show’s audience average in the coveted adults 18-49 demographic fell 14% to 373,000 (thought it still scored the same 0.3 rating). The drop was even steeper among total viewers–episode two’s average sank 29% to just 648,000.

Reviews of MTV’s adaptation have been stronger than expected, but those steep ratings and viewership drops indicate that many premiere viewers went unconvinced by the teen comedy’s pilot. And given how sorely “The Inbetweeners” failed to attract eyeballs from the get go, things are looking rather bleak for the series.

Unless a drastic turnaround occurs, it is highly unlikely “The Inbetweeners” will be renewed for a second season.
