News on Chris Jericho’s WWE Future, Latest on Summerslam Appearance

While some are reporting this as breaking news, it had been known for a little while that Chris Jericho’s band Fozzy would not be playing the August 19 date of the upcoming Rockstar Uproar Festival, thereby opening the door for Jericho to participate at Summerslam.

That participation is expected to involve a match between Chris Jericho and hard-working WWE Superstar Dolph Ziggler, a contest that should undoubtedly help raise Ziggler’s credibility as a legitimate top performer.

Though Jericho still appears committed to doing that match, it is unlikely he will be around in a regular capacity much longer. Jericho has given indications that he will be committing entirely to Fozzy in the upcoming months, and is therefore set to take another hiatus from the ring.

The future WWE Hall of Famer returned to action earlier this year via a mysterious “End of the World” viral video campaign. His initial appearances, designed to re-establish him as a heel by mocking babyface antics, never clicked the way he and WWE’s creative team intended and undoubtedly got his most recent run off on the wrong foot.

To re-energize the character and setup the feud with Ziggler, Jericho recently began a full-fledged babyface turn.
