Mike “Quick” Swick made a triumphant return to the Octagon Saturday, crushing DaMarques Johnson with a big second round knockout.
Two and a half years removed from his last fight–a loss to Paulo Thiago–Swick delivered the first significant offense with a big right hand. Johnson, however, ended up gaining the advantage in the first round, bloodying Swick and delivering some big punches and submission attempts on the ground.
But all that really served to do was shake off the ring rust for Swick, who moved right back into control in the second round. Swick threw Johnson to the ground on a counter, and then followed up with a massive right hand that completely knocked out Johnson. The fight was absolutely over at that point, although Swick had to continue his offense until the referee stepped in.
After the fight, an emotional Swick asked the audience if it “remembered” him, because he certainly remembered all of them.
Official result: Mike Swick b. DaMarques Johnson via KO (punches) at 1:20 of ROund Two
