Latest News on Brock Lesnar’s Backstage WWE Incident, Future Plans

PWInsider.com reported early Tuesday that Brock Lesnar threw a fit backstage after his Extreme Rules main event, a display of frustration that included confrontations with WWE officials and tearing apart a locker room.

The tipping point for Lesnar was a feeling that he was effectively double-crossed in the booking of his match with John Cena.

While Lesnar had known Cena was to win for weeks, he apparently had been under the impression that Cena would sell the significance of the beating he took after the bell. That meant leaving on a stretcher, thereby giving Lesnar ammunition to claim he won the “war” even if Cena claimed victory in the battle.

Instead, Cena cut a promo after the match, confirming he was likely injured but also revealing he was still able to walk and talk and thus not terribly beaten by the former UFC Champion.

It is unclear what sparked the audible or why Lesnar was caught off-guard by the promo, but F4WOnline.com speculates that WWE is putting a larger-than-expected premium on Lesnar’s value in getting current WWE stars over. Most felt that with an estimated $5 million/year in pay-offs and huge attraction as a PPV draw, WWE would see Lesnar as the key priority and keep him unaffected through WrestleMania.

F4WOnline did, however, note that some of what Lesnar actually did backstage was likely designed to “work” the boys. While all indications are that he was frustrated, he was likely not quite the loose cannon backstage reports would have readers believe.
