TNA wrestler Kurt Angle claims via his attorney and anonymous sources that he was not in excess of legal alcohol limits when arrested over the weekend, arguing Virginia police are simply trying to make an example of him.
Angle’s lawyer reportedly told TMZ that he passed a breathalyzer test associated with his arrest early Sunday morning.
“We understand Kurt will be entering a plea of not guilty in response to any infractions and/or offenses,” said the lawyer.
According to TMZ sources close to Angle, the Olympic Gold Medalist is of the opinion he was “framed” and that he is being used as an example for police.
Responding to a call that Angle was driving erratically, Virginia State Police arrested Angle early Sunday morning. TMZ says Angle was charged with driving under the influence.
Indications from Virginia law are that even if Angle did, in fact, pass the breathalyzer, he could still be guilty of impaired driving if any amount of alcohol–or any form of drugs–were found to impact his driving ability.
