WWE Stars Back Kelly Kelly in Randy Orton Incident, RAW Segment Bombs

While no one is outright, publicly disputing Randy Orton’s controversial interview claim about Kelly Kelly’s long list of WWE Superstar hookups, many within the lockerroom were supportive of the Diva, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports.

Even though there had been rumors of some relationships between Kelly and WWE wrestlers prior to the Orton interview, WWE still wants to portray its female talent as wholesome and empowered, and the comments from Orton and the radio show hosts seemed counter to that philosophy.

Further, Kelly has a reputation for being nice to all of her coworkers, which made supporting the on-air burial even less attractive for some WWE colleagues.

It is, however, worth noting that there was heat, in general, on Orton over the fact that he was largely able to get away with saying things very few WWE Superstars could dream of saying in a public forum. That fact creates the possibility that some were singling out the Kelly Kelly comments as a tangible way to emphasize the “harm” of the interview.

Randy Orton did publicly apologize to Kelly Kelly following the controversy.

— This week’s disappointing RAW rating provided little positive news, save for a solid overrun number for the closing CM Punk-Vince McMahon-John Cena segment, but one quarter, in particular, stood out as very disappointing. The segment, which featured the Big Show-Dolph Ziggler-Drew McIntyre match and the angle with Mark Henry, drew a mere 2.61 cable coverage and lost 281,000 viewers from the prior segment, which had lost 274,000 viewers in its own right, F4WOnline.com reports.
