Update on Brock Lesnar’s WWE Deal, WWE Changing Big RAW Group?

CM Punk’s presumed departure has a lot of insiders talking about the future of “The New Nexus,” which only regularly features Punk, Michael McGillicutty and David Otunga.

F4WOnline.com reports that Mason Ryan, who is out with an injury, is already being eyed for a different role when he returns. One idea being thrown around is for Ryan to join a heel like The Miz or Alberto Del Rio in a bodyguard/enforcer capacity.

That would leave Otunga and McGillicutty, who would have neither the star power nor volume (only two guys) to lead a supposedly-important faction on the RAW brand. Stemming from the interaction on RAW, ideas like involving Zack Ryder in the group have been thrown around, but it is also possible that WWE will simply move away from the New Nexus label once (if) Punk is out of the mix.

— Regarding its report of a non-television, non-wrestling deal between WWE, Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter says it is most likely not signed but the creative elements of the deal are “worked out and people close to it are talking of it like it’s done.” Even though the Observer’s claim has always been that the deal was not for a wrestling-related “return” appearance from Lesnar, many media outlets ran with the claim that it was only to later “kill” rumors that never even existed.
