While many were sour on Snooki’s performance prior to WWE WrestleMania, with the Miami Mike’s sports bar segment drawing particularly negative reviews, industry insiders, critics and fans seemed warm to Snooki’s appearance at the actual ‘Mania pay-per-view.
In the final segment of the six-man tag match, which featured Trish Stratus and John Morrison on Snooki’s side and LayCool and Dolph Ziggler on the opposing team, Snooki completed a double handspring elbow on Michelle McCool. She followed with a back handspring into a body splash for the pinfall victory over McCool.
The limited involvement, which saw Snooki draw from her cheerleading background, was seen as surprisingly-athletic and thus more effective than the “catfight choke” segments that had occupied most of the build-up.
— WWE confirmed a record “entertainment” crowd at the Georgia Dome of 71,617 for WrestleMania. The advertised gate was $6.6 million.
— Although most WrestleMania segments and superstars were trending while they were in progress, as of 11:30PM, the only Twitter trending topic related to WrestleMania (beyond #wrestlemania, which is number three) is Taker/HHH at number nine.
